How Democracy Dies: Half of Millennials Would Give Up Voting for Student Loan Forgiveness 9/15/17 - A Whittle Bit of Commentary

A Whittle Bit of Commentary with Chad Whittle

Below is a rush transcript (may contain errors):

According to Fox Business, 50 percent of millennials in a new survey from Credible, a financial website, said they would be willing to give up voting in the next two presidential elections if it meant having their loans forgiven.

The fact that over half of those polled would be willing to give up their right to vote is concerning to me because it shows that my generation doesn’t view, appreciate or understand how blessed we are to be able to vote for our loser politicians that represent us and disappoint us.

Being able to vote for those that passes laws that govern our country and to have a say in it, via voting, is the ultimate freedom. Imagine how many people in a third world nation envies us and our freedom to choose our leaders.

Americans have died protecting that freedom and half of millennials would be willing to give up that right.

I would choose voting over loan forgiveness any day because America is much bigger and more important than me having debt forgiveness. If we don’t have strong elected leaders that can help continue this great American experiment, your loans won’t matter.
